KRISHNA HEART & SUPER SPECIALTY INSTITUTE PERFORMED FIRST ARTIFICIAL DISC REPLACEMENT IN GUJARAT

First Cervical Spine Arthroplasty was performed by Dr Praveen Saxena at KRISHNA Heart & Super specialty Institute. Till date this option was only available in three cities of our country. This will be a boon for patients suffering from Cervical Spondylosis in our State. So far the traditional way of treating these patients was physiotherapy and surgery in the form of decompression and fusion of the involved level of spine (i.e. sticking of two vertebrae) Fusion, of an otherwise mobile segment of spine, was the only option available till date. However, this is not a desirable solution, as it restricts neck movements, which are very important for daily activities of a healthy person. It is now possible at �KRISHNA� to replace the damaged disc with an artificial disc that would provide full and unrestricted neck movements after the surgery.

With the advent of this new era in cervical spine surgery Dr Praveen Saxena hopes to give an option to his patients of having normal neck movements even after removal of cervical discs. Post Surgery, artificial disc replacement patients can go back to their normal activities and can even take part in sports.
